Application of electrical technology in waste water treatment

Currently, environmental issues are increasingly important, the research and application of green technology in environmental treatment is increasingly being developed. In which, wastewater treatment by electrolysis technology has been researched and developed widely.

Under the effect of current, the positive electrodes (usually aluminum or iron) will corrode and release coagulants (Al3+ or Fe3+ cations) into the wastewater environment, along with that. are electrolytic reactions that will produce air bubbles at the cathode. The air bubbles formed during the electrolysis of water will rise and attach to the suspended solids, creating a force to lift them to the surface to form a scum layer, which is then removed by the wiper. Besides, in the positive electrode bar, oxygen is used to oxidize impurities.

The electrolysis method offers outstanding advantages such as:

  • The removal efficiency of turbidity, SS, COD, BOD5, TKN, TP is quite high and increases DO in aerobic biological treatment tank.
  • High organic matter removal efficiency, up to 90%, facilitates post-biological treatment.
  • Power consumption is easy to calculate and control.
  • Short reaction time and less sludge generation than conventional methods.

After many years of research, VESACO has perfected and brought to the market the wastewater electrolysis system and has been applied in many projects across the country.
