Wastewater characteristics

Industrial wastewater is divided into two types:

Domestic wastewater: from staff in sanitary areas, kitchens, office areas, etc. This waste water often contains a number of substances such as cleaning chemicals, microorganisms, bacteria, etc. BOD5, COD,… These are extremely toxic substances that cause a number of diseases: helminths, viruses, diseases related to the respiratory and digestive systems.

Wastewater from industrial production: depending on the industry, this wastewater component will have its own characteristics:

Food industry: BOD, suspended solids, toxic pesticides, growth hormone, matter color, acid or alkali, etc.
Power plants: suspended solids: mercury, lead, chromium, selenium, arsenic, cadmium, or gaseous sulfur, bottom ash and fly ash, etc.
Iron and steel industry: gasification products: naphthalene, benzene, cyanide, ammonia, phenol, cresols, anthracene,… pollutants: animal fats and oils, solid particles, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid,… these are all are substances generated in the process of calcination, production, cleaning and surface treatment.
Pulp and paper industry: TSS, BOD, chloroform, furan, dioxin, phenol, COD and suspended solids.
Industrial oil: Including areas such as car washes, fuel storage warehouses, factories, transportation centers, power generation plants, etc. Wastewater from these areas usually contains: solvents, oils. grease, grit, detergents and hydrocarbons.

To ensure the health and safety of the living environment, from now on, inter-agency agencies need to come up with solutions to treat industrial wastewater  thoroughly.

Description of project items:

Wastewater treatment tank No. 01: Combination of air-conditioning compartment, anaerobic compartment, anoxic compartment, aerobic compartment, sterilization compartment.

–     Fine screen box: Waste water after being collected by the drainage network will be mechanically treated by a system of fine screen boxes placed in the centralized pump pit. The fine screen box is responsible for separating the garbage mixed in the wastewater, to protect the pump. The fine screen box is designed with SUS 304 stainless steel. The fine screen is responsible for separating garbage less than 5 mm in size from the wastewater before it flows into the rear biological tank.

–     Air-conditioning compartment: Receiving wastewater, regulating wastewater flow.

–   Anaerobic compartment: The anaerobic compartment contains anaerobic respiratory microorganisms, which are capable of breaking down complex organic compounds in wastewater into simple organic compounds. To increase the treatment efficiency, we use an additional layer of buffer material which is a fixed microbial substrate to help anaerobic microorganisms adhere and grow on it.

– Anoxic prevention: The anoxic compartment contains anaerobic respiratory microorganisms, these microorganisms have the ability to reduce NO3–   into molecular Nitrogen that diffuses into the atmosphere. The aeration compartment is equipped with 01 agitator pump to agitate the entire wastewater, helping microorganisms to better contact the wastewater while reducing the phenomenon of sludge settling to the bottom of the tank.

–    Aeration tank: Aerobic compartment combined with mobile microbial substrate MBBR: Treatment of BOD5 present in wastewater while the process of nitrite and nitrification takes place under the action of microorganisms, NH4+ is oxidized to NO3 –, the treatment efficiency increases when combined with mobile microbiological media, reducing the amount of activated sludge to the settling tank. The aerobic compartment has an elliptical pump system to circulate the water as well as the sludge to the anoxic tank.

–    Disinfection compartment: The disinfection compartment is supplemented with disinfectant chemicals to help clean the output wastewater before being discharged into the environment.
